7. Amaravati’s Economic Prospects: Building a Future Economic Hub

Amaravati is envisioned as a major economic powerhouse for Andhra Pradesh and southern India. By 2050, the city is projected to have a population of 3.5 million, a GDP of $35 billion, and generate 1.5 million jobs, primarily in sectors like engineering, electronics, healthcare, education, and entertainment. The city’s strategic location along the East Coast Economic Corridor and its integration with neighboring cities like Vijayawada and Guntur are expected to spur regional growth. With a master plan covering 217 sq km, Amaravati is designed to attract both domestic and international investment, leveraging public-private partnerships and global financial support. The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and other institutions are backing infrastructure and capacity-building, aiming to create an inclusive, climate-resilient, and economically vibrant city that sets a benchmark for urban development in India.
